Dainippon Printing launches aluminized PET film

The aluminum vapor deposition treatment not only blocks oxygen and water vapor, but also blocks ultraviolet rays of sunlight and fluorescent lamps to prevent deterioration of contents. However, when the vapor deposition film is too thick, cracks are likely to occur. The company controls the thickness of the vapor-deposited film to achieve both flexibility and barrier properties. The manufacturing cost of this product is only a few percent higher than that of PET film made from petroleum raw materials. Dainippon Printing said that in the future, the price will be lowered to a level close to that of petroleum raw materials. Biometric PET replaces about 30% of the feedstock's ethylene glycol from petroleum extracts into bioethanol extracted from sugar cane. Compared with the original petroleum raw materials, it can reduce carbon dioxide by about 10% in the entire product life cycle.
